I'm no expert on Avalanche but if I understand correctly, half of the total supply (360 million) was minted in the genesis block. This 50% is set aside for staking rewards. I haven't looked into this much further but I presume they have a sort of long-term decreasing emission schedule similar to Bitcoin. Token holders can also vote on governance proposals to change these settings.
